My Story:
During my first two years at PC my life looked really good on the outside – I was committed to not drinking before I turned 21 and went to multiple Christian ministries on campus. Inside, though, I was living my life for other people’s approval – my greatest desire was to have friends and be accepted. When I turned 21 the need to fit in and be accepted drew me into the party scene at PC. I cared about who I was seen with and what they thought of me. I lived for the weekends and I would go out Wednesday-Saturday nights and would do whatever my friends were doing. Fall semester of my senior year, one of my good friends, a believer involved in CO, went through a tragic season when her brother was killed in a car accident. I wanted to be there for her but didn’t know how. She pursued Christ; I pursued the world, and our friendship had drifted during college. In his grace, the Lord completely changed my heart through her brother’s death. I began to question what I was living my life for as I saw firsthand how life is so short and can be taken from you in an instant. That December, I went to CO’s New Years conference and was given practical wisdom on how to live my life for the Lord. The difference this time was that I was not blinded; the Lord had opened my eyes, and I was a new creation. The verse the Lord gave me to help me see this is 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
